Physical fitness featured throughout my school years and into the Royal Air Force. Team sport and gym work took up a significant part of my week as I played various combined-forces sports. After this I took up tennis, squash and even golf, but my main passion in this time became Lau Gar Kung Fu. Gym work was an essential part of being at the top of my game. Now as a qualified personal trainer with 10 years and over 2000 hours of 1-2-1 training private clients, I enjoy helping others achieve their various fitness goals.

Josh Armytage

I find helping people to develop their fitness and improve their way of life hugely rewarding. My studies and experience has led to an in-depth understanding of the physical and mental requirements involved in sport and physical fitness, which I put to use here at B! Health & Fitness. My areas of expertise include: muscular hypertrophy, improving strength, weight loss, sport specific movements, diet and supplementation. As the general manager, I look after the day to day operations of the facility.

In my early 40’s and now being a father of 2, I am conscious of the challenges that come our way in life. Having worked in the fitness industry for 15 years, I understand the changes need to be made for an effective long term approach to your fitness and nutrition. Real life is about getting some balance. Your training, your recovery, nutrition and sleep are all very important factors in making progress, but can be hard to achieve without the right support. My experience has led me to help people returning from injuries, post surgery, people looking to improve upon health concerns, those looking for weight-loss, muscle/strength gains, pre/post pregnancy, all the way to athletes competing internationally and winning national championships.

I began working for the B! team on a part-time basis in 2016, and whilst being in such a welcoming and supportive environment, I developed a keen interest in helping people to progress on their fitness journeys and improve their way of life. I then decided in summer 2017 to become a level 2 Fitness Instructor and began working full-time at B! Health & Fitness. Since then I have expanded my areas of expertise to include: Level 2 Fitness Instructor, Level 3 Personal Training and Nutrition & Weight management, Indoor Cycling Instructor and Covid-19 rehabilitation. Having been a member of the B! team for a few years now, I truly love helping anyone who hopes to improve not only their physical health, but also their wellbeing from both an exercise and nutritional perspective.

After turning my love into a career I have been busy honing my skills and expanding my knowledge within the industry. I first became interested in fitness while attending PE sessions at my college. this interest soon became a hobby as I looked to use the facility to help improve my performance in football and cricket. The gym became a large part of my day-to-day lifestyle and has helped my mental and physical health massively. Teaching classes and taking people in a journey with their fitness is incredibly rewarding, now qualified as a Personal Trainer I very much look forward to getting my teeth into helping many more clients.

Through my Exercise and Sports Science degree at the University of Exeter I was able to work with, and be coached by some of the best strength and conditioning coaches in the country through the high-performance rugby programme. I, the client, understand and agree to the following points;

  • This agreement is between myself and B! Health & Fitness Ltd for the provision of Personal Training (PT) services by a Level 3 qualified Personal Trainer (PT).
  • 6 hours’ notice will be required for cancelling a session. I understand that if 6 hours’ notice is not given then the fee for that session will stand. If the session is part of a block booking, 1 session will be docked accordingly.
  • If I receive credit for a missed session, the credit must be used within 30 days of the missed session, or it will expire. If I am not on time for a session(s), the session(s) may be cut short and the full fee applied.
  • I must read and adhere to all rules of B! Health & Fitness.
  • I must read and adhere to the Health Commitment statement of B! Health & Fitness.
  • I have control of the workout and may terminate a particular exercise or workout at anytime.
  • I will not use any equipment that I do not know how to use, or have not been shown how to use by qualified staff.
  • Appropriate athletic footwear and comfortable gym clothing must be worn.
  • After purchasing a single PT Session, if it is not used after 1 month then it will expire. In this instance no session can be kept as a credit, or transferred to another client (existing or new).
  • Block bookings are not refundable. Please ensure you are able to commit to the duration of the booking.
  • A block of 5 PT sessions are to be used within 6 weeks. Blocks of 10 and 20 sessions are to be used within 13 weeks.
  • If purchasing a block of 20 PT sessions, please ensure you are able to commit to the minimum 2 PT sessions a week.
  • If after a period of 3 months, there remains unused sessions these will expire. Subject to directors discretion.
  • Results will differ for clients based upon various factors including without limitation; body type, nutrition and lifestyle choices made away from B! Health &Fitness etc. Therefore no guarantees of results can be given.
  • I am aware of the need to disclose all medical and exercise limiting conditions to the Personal Trainer. This is to be done at the beginning of the programme and immediately if anything should arise during the course training together.
  • While it is preferred to build a relationship with one PT, situations such as holiday, illness and end of employment, may mean that this continuity is not possible. In this event another suitable PT will be made available.
  • We regret that in the event of your refusal to work with a chosen substitute PT, that session will be deducted.

At B! Health & Fitness all our Personal Trainers act with the utmost professionalism at all times. As the client, you must be aware that personal training can involve some physical contact between PT and client to ensure proper form and technique. However, as the client, you can opt out of this if it is something you feel uncomfortable with. If this is indeed the case, please inform us before training begins.


I, the Personal Trainer, understand and agree to the following points;

  • If I am not on time for sessions, the time will be made up at that session or a subsequent session.
  • Upon cancellation of a session, by me, a follow up session will be made available to the client. However, if the client wishes to keep their original time slot, B! Health & Fitness will offer the services of another Personal Trainer if available.
  • I can terminate a particular exercise or entire workout at any time if I believe that the client is not in suitable condition for exercise.


Personal Training requires a commitment from both parties in order to reach the results that the client aspires to. At B! Health & Fitness our Personal Trainers will do all that is needed to provide you, the client, with all the tools required to give you those results. However, optimal results will only be achieved if you commit to following a healthy lifestyle. Aim to exercise a minimum of 3 times a week, follow the advice given to you, limit alcohol and unhealthy foods, make sure you get adequate sleep and ensure hydration/energy levels are appropriate before each PT session.
