Kirsty joined B! Health & Fitness in 2018 and since then has had multiple surgeries to recover from, yet despite her setbacks she continues to prosper and inspire.
Invasive surgeries, sepsis, nerve damage, a stoma bag, frequent and unmanageable pain spikes have all given Kirsty and us many challenges to maintain some quality of life through fitness. At B! We have managed as a team to give her quality of life, and as a result is flourishing within her personal and professional life. Working for the NHS alongside 2 family businesses, Kirsty also trains several of her own horses and after 25 years of riding them at a national and international level, she has recently been selected to represent Endurance GB’s elite horse-riding team as a Para Ambassador. She has been crowned Endurance GB Para champion for the last 3 years. Kirsty is now in training to complete the ultimate distance of 160km in a day. When she finishes her next 160km, it will be her tenth and will gain “elite” athlete status, and at present the U.K. only has one other Elite athlete.
I have worked with the team at B! Through all my ups and downs. The numerous operations over the years have meant each time I have needed help in recovery, which is a constant challenge. I have several disabilities and without B!’s input, I simply wouldn’t be able to ride the bigger distances. What seems easy for others is hard for me. Often it takes great concentration to get my left leg to coordinate and at times it is almost impossible, the team “think outside the box” for ways to do exercises, and adapt if need be, to gain the same effect. I work hard in the gym and with the support of my personal trainer at B! Health and Fitness, I have been able to achieve so much more than would have been possible without the team’s support, guidance, and motivation.
